Internet of Things – The Future of Technology

How beautiful it is when your door can update its Facebook Status every time some one opens it. A song starts playing when you tweet about it. A fire sensor that automatically send an E-Mail to the fire department. Keeping all the awesomeness in mind Technoid has introduced the Internet of things workshop to get you ready for the future. Internet of Things will drive new consumer and business behavior that will demand increasingly intelligent industry solutions, which, in turn, will drive trillions of dollars in opportunity for IT industry and even more for the companies that take advantage of the IOT.

When we talk about an Internet of Thing, it’s not just putting RFID tags on some dumb thing is. It’s about embedding intelligence so things become smarter & do more than they were proposed to do. Can you imagine a computing concept where everyday objects have network connectivity? Is it possible for ordinary devices to communicate among themselves?

Yes!! And the answer is ‘the Internet of Things’.

This Network of networks extracts and makes sense of data within machines. An estimated of 50 Billion wireless devices are to be connected to the internet in future. Interesting! Isn’t it?

Attend the workshop and you’ll discover that the Internet of Things isn’t difficult and has unlimited possibilities. By experimenting, you will be inspired by what IoT can do for the world.

Internet of Things (IoT) is a novel design paradigm, envisioned as a network of billions or trillions of machines communicating with one another and rapidly gaining global attention from academia, industry, and governments. IoT is recognized as one of the most important areas of the future Internet; enabling ubiquitous computing among global networked machines and physical objects.

IoT is a highly distributed and ubiquitous network of seamlessly connected heterogeneous devices that can be fully integrated into the current Internet and mobile networks. Thus, it allows the development of new intelligent services available anytime, anywhere, by anyone and anything.

Internet of Things where ‘things‘- sensors and devices transmit data directly to the Internet has become an enabling technology eco-system with several application areas such as –

  • Smart Home
  • Smart Farming
  • Smart City
  • Smart Grid
  • Industrial Internet
  • Connected Health
  • Smart Supply Chain

The application list is impressive, however, since the technologies involved are many- sensors, microcontrollers, wireless networking, cloud based services, mobile apps, web pages -practical implementation of an IoT application is complex. The workshop will handhold the participants through IoT projects that have been implemented and they can actually see IoT technologies at work in everyday applications.

Workshop theme:

The Internet of Things (IoT) has spread into most of the businesses in the modern world. It has become an integral and inevitable part of our daily lives. This technique will improve public safety, intelligent tracking in transportation, industrial wireless automation, Machine to Machine communication and personal health monitoring in healthcare with better information and faster communications. Improving efficiencies, enabling innovation and fueling transformation are the cornerstones of the digital business. This work shop will induce lateral dimensions in various research avenues in communication, automation, smart sensor, Networking and Internet Protocol (IP).

The workshop seeks to leverage the experience gained in implementing IOT projects in-house into a meaningful leaming experience for the participants where the takeaway is an overall understanding of IoT infrastructure and hands-on working with IoT hardware and firmware. The workshop will be based on a custom board designed and developed with the following features –

  • 8 bit AVR microcontroller
  • Embedded Ethernet module
  • Interface for sensors: Temperature, humidity, ambient light, soil moisture.
  • Relay
  • LED matrix display interface

Each participant will get to take home the IoT board he has worked on. The board can serve as a hardware platform for establishing an loT Lab in their respective colleges. The projects in the workshop will be in three groups: sensor data update on the internet and pulling the data for display in a mobile app, alarm notifications using the internet, controlling/sending a message to the device from the internet.

Workshop goals:

Looking to expand awareness, educate, inform and engage on all aspects of the Internet of Things (IoT) including components, technologies, products, Application, consumer usage and societal impact.

Outcome of the workshop:

You’ll learn the basic concepts and features of the Internet of Things and build projects utilizing the Arduino platform. You’ll discover fundamental concepts of cloud computing, sensor reading and connecting the Arduino to the Internet, wireless interfaces and controlling things with Android phones. You’ll also learn to use the most popular open platforms for managing sensor data from the Arduino, how to trigger actuators remotely, and how to read information on your Android Smart Phones.

At the end of the workshop, each participant attending this workshop is expected to have enhanced his/her knowledge on the future of technology – IoT.

Benefits:
  • Certificate of Participation from Technoid to each participant.
  • Superior learning experience from the experts to enhance the practical skills.

Fee:  Will be provided on request.
